You are invited to the Girl Scout Week celebration in honor of our 111th birthday, taking place from Sunday, March 12 – Saturday, March 18.

In honor of Girl Scouts founding on March 12, 1912, we invite you to help us celebrate our 111th birthday by making Girl Scouts accessible for all girls in our community through the Girl Scout Birthday Challenge. Your gift of $19.12 to the Family Partnership Program will provide financial assistance for girl’s uniforms, troop dues, program fees, and more. Your support will make a BIG difference in a girl’s life. She will be able to explore the outdoors at camp, proudly wear her vest at troop meetings, and earn badges and patches with her Girl Scout sisters.
The Girl Scout Birthday Challenge runs now through March 31. Everyone who donates $10 or more will receive a fun Family Partnership patch as a thank you for supporting girls throughout our council. Click the button below to join in the birthday celebration!

We celebrate Girl Scout Birthday on March 12, 1912, when Juliette Gordon Low formed the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah, GA with 18 girls. Please join us for a birthday party in honor of Girl Scouts!

Sunday, March 12 is Girl Scout Sunday. Whether your faith community gathers on Sunday, or you celebrate Jummah, Sabbath or Shabbat, Girl Scouts are invited to celebrate their faith in a special way during Girl Scout Week. You can buy patches or learn more about religious pins that are available for girls to earn. We have also prepared language for troops who may want to make announcements during their service or create an announcement for your bulletin.

March 13 – Make New Friends Monday
All Girl Scouts (K-12) who invite a friend to join Girl Scouts now through March 30 can earn our Froggy Invite a Friend patch, plus a mini Froggy patch for every Girl Scout they get to join.

March 14 – Teaching Tuesday
Teaching Tuesday is a day to learn more about our Girl Scout traditions. The Girl Scout Ways badge, which is available for every age level, is a perfect way to engage troops in learning about our history and tradition. You can view the requirements in the Explore tab of the Volunteer Toolkit.
Another Girl Scout tradition is making SWAPS. Girls or troops make a large quantity of these when they will be with lots of other Girl Scouts (for example, at camp, at a large Girl Scout event, at our National Convention, etc.). Themes of these small, wearable crafts vary based on where they are being traded.

March 15 – Wilderness Wednesday
Wilderness Wednesday is a day to celebrate the Girl Scout camp connection. We hope you will enjoy this opportunity to participate in a campfire singalong and make Girl Scout S’mores brownies at home!

March 16 – Throwback Thursday
With 111 years of history, there are lots of ways we can look back. Today, we invite Girl Scouts to watch The Golden Eaglet, a short film theaters back in 1918, to tell the story of Girl Scouts. Also, watch Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana’s Facebook and Instagram pages on March 16 and see our Dress Like Juliette Gordon Low virtual parade. Want to join the parade? March 17 – Girl Scout Fashion Friday
Wear your Girl Scout uniform, favorite Girl Scout Spirit Wear, or dress in green today to celebrate your Girl Scout spirit! You can also take advantage of our shop special today and have a Girl Scout logo put on something you already own!

March 18 – Service Saturday
Girl Scouts have a rich history of giving back to their communities. Be part of this tradition by planning or participating in a service project. (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassador Girl Scouts can be recognized for 20 hours or more of service with a Community Service Bar).
