This Wednesday, on September 12, 2018,  Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI) brought together guests and members alike to highlight the endeavors of several female chefs and culinary entrepreneurs in the Chicagoland food scene as well as lift the mission of Girl Scouts. The event was an opportunity for those in attendance to engage with the chefs, their signature bites, the Girl Scout sous chefs, and supporters of the council. It was a delicious evening for all in the room!

Emceed by Jocelyn Delk Adams, the engaging baker, author and founder of Grandbaby Cakes, Smart Cookies: Chefs Above the Rest was held at the newly-opened event space Gallery 1500 in Lincoln Park’s NEWCITY. The evening’s honorees, along with their tasty signature bites, were a shining example of how supporting girls and women benefits us all. The honorees of the evening included:

  • Diana Dávila, Chef & Owner, Mi Tocaya Antojería
  • Nicole Hamilton, Owner & Caterer, Simply Sweetness Food Design
  • Ellen King, Co-Owner & Head Baker, Hewn Bakery
  • Emily Nejad, Owner, Bon Vivant Cakes
  • Anna Posey, Pastry Chef & Co-Owner, Elske Restaurant
  • Elaina Vazquez, Founder & CEO, Boutique Bites

With over 200 guests present the cocktail hour event brought in more than $110,000 through several donation opportunities including a silent auction, direct donation wall and text-to-give. The proceeds from the evening will go toward GSGCNWI programming. The event brought the Girl Scout mission to life, while bringing together new and existing supporters to experience firsthand the impact Girl Scouting has on the lives of local girls.
