Girl Scouts are adventurous and have the courage to push through tough obstacles. We are go-getters –bold, honest, and determined to succeed. We are goal-oriented, ambitious, life-long learners who believe no challenge is too difficult – not even 26.2 miles!
On Sunday, October 7, the Girl Scout Go-Getter team of 12 men and women embodied that spirit as they persevered through the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Interested in joining next year? Let us know!
Despite the fluctuating weather conditions, the team kept Girl Scouts front of mind to motivate them through the rain and finished strong – some running a marathon for the first time! And while preparing for the physical aspect of the marathon was no easy feat, our Go-Getters actively fundraised for Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI). With their efforts, the runners have over $17,000 to date. But it’s not too late to show your support of the Girl Scout Go-Getter team and our council! Please consider making a gift of any size towards the Chicago Marathon.
Leading up to race day, the Girl Scout Go-Getter team connected over their passion for and dedication to GSGCNWI. Legacy runner and Brownie Troop leader, Amanda Kristo, had her troop sign the back of her shirt to remind her that they were with her on the course in spirit.

Don’t forget, you can join the fun too! We are very excited to be hosting a team of 23 runners in the 2019 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Please contact Holly Johnson if you want to be a runner on or support in any way, this dedicated Girl Scout Go-Getter team!
