It’s a Winter Wonderland this December with Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana (GSGCNWI), and you’re invited! We might all be staying at home, but that’s no reason we can’t have a good time together. Whether it’s celebrating Holidays Around the World, learning about the universe at our Space Science webinars, or participating in some special surprises throughout the month, we’re sure to have a wonderful winter together!
Virtual Programs for All Ages (K-12)
- Take it outside on Dec. 1 to identify different types of snowflakes and then defy the laws of science by building a snowman indoors!
- Explore the architecture of making Gingerbread Houses on Dec. 4! Designing, cutting, and decorating will all be part of this family activity!
- Join us for our Community Service Sunday live events on Dec. 6 and 27: we’ll be going live with FEMA to construct emergency preparedness kits and much more!
- Jump into the jolly winter spirit on Dec. 18 with a fun and delicious snack tutorial!
- Join the Global Girl Scouting group on Dec. 20 to learn all about Nigeria! We’ll share info about what holidays the country celebrates, what Girl Scouting (called Guiding) looks like there, and all about traveling to the country.
Winter Holidays Around the World

How do girls in other countries celebrate the winter holidays? Join us on Dec. 12 for an afternoon FULL of virtual holiday cheer to learn! We’ll make crafts from holiday celebrations and send recipe suggestions for delicious cultural treats.
Girl Scouts of all levels, and their family members, are welcome to cozy up around the fire (and computer!) with hot chocolate in hand to experience winter holidays around the world.
Learn how you can Go Gold!

Sign up for this Gold Award training webinar and receive a recording that you can view anytime! This recording will give you the tools you need to put your Gold Award Project Proposal together and prepare for your interview.
Register here! Recordings will be released on Dec. 7, 14, and 21.
Space Science Webinars

Get ready to investigate and explore the universe with your Girl Scout sisters! Brownies through Cadettes can get started on their Space Science badges with these badge starter webinars on Dec. 9. We will explore everything from invisible light to how light impacts our environment, the planets, the moon, the stars, our solar system, and more!
Programs for Adults and Volunteers
- Celebrate winter with us at next month’s Adult Volunteer Enrichment virtual event on Dec. 7! We will share fun options to get outside and enjoy nature by yourself, with your family and your troop.
- Join us for Girl Scout Leader Chat on Dec. 8 and 12! This month, we are networking and connecting with other leaders about self-care.
- Meet with other Juliette mentors and council staff from camp, program, product program, and membership departments at our Juliette Mentor Chat on Dec. 9. Bring your questions and excitement about our Juliette, self-directed Girl Scouts!
- All returning, new and potential volunteers are invited to attend the Mock Virtual Troop Meeting on Dec. 14 to experience what a virtual troop meeting could be like! You’ll see how the VTK meeting plans can be combined with your own personal style.
